  • It was good to hear your voice preaching again. I must admit that your voice makes you sound taller;) Seriously though, you spoke of something that caught my attention and convicted me and that is how easy it is to not challenge people’s beliefs in their religions, the Buddhist, the Hindu, the Muslim. We think that if they are nice people we should just leave them alone. I never thought about what would happen to them when they died. You also answered a question about where we go immediately after we die. My Dad was asking me about that, about whether we had bodies as well as a reoccurring question from him and when my Grandpa was alive, “What are we going to do in Heaven?” Do you know the answer to that question?

  • Kimberly,

So nice to hear from you! No, sadly, I haven’t grown any taller ;-) .The reality of hell is, or should be, a tremendous burden for Christians and a motivator for us to share the gospel with, and pray for, the lost.

As for the question, “What will we be doing in heaven?” the Scriptures only give us hints. First, we have a tendency to think that we will spend eternity in heaven. This is wrong. Ultimately, God is going to renew the earth and the Redeemed will reign with Christ here on the new earth. Look at Isaiah 65:17-25. I think that when Christ comes again and establishes his kingdom, the original mandate given to Adam and Eve in Gen.1:28; 2:15 will be given again.

I remember speaking with an Army friend years ago, an airborne ranger, who was a Christian but struggled with the concept of spending eternity in heaven doing nothing but singing. I am sure we will do some of that, we are designed to worship our Creator, but I am also sure that we are designed to glorify the Lord by subduing the Creation. It is a big universe, and eternity is a long time. We will be plenty active forever and ever, worshiping the Lord directly and by carrying out the purpose he gave us in the Garden.

We miss you! Come on and visit my Sunday School class on Genesis Sunday mornings at 9:30. Love to have you!
